About
This page contains information which should (hopefully) answer any general questions you have about the Guild CTF Tournament.
• Discworld MUD
"Discworld MUD is a multiplayer, text-based, online game (a MUD) based on the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett."
The MUD can be accessed via a Telnet connection to discworld.atuin.net, on port 4242 or 23. More information can be found at the Discworld MUD Website.
• Capture The Flag (CTF)
CTF is one of the many features of the Discworld MUD, taking place in an old ruined castle in the middle of the Morpork Mountains. From the MUD, help ctf will display a help file regarding the game, the introduction of which reads:
Capture The Flag (CTF) is a team game in which the basic idea is to find and hoist a flag as many times as you can within a time limit. Everyone is welcome to play CTF, both playerkillers and non-playerkillers. During the game, everything is permitted, you can use whatever means at your disposal to win the game. Even better, anything you do whilst in the arena will have no effect on your character outside of the game; that is, you will not lose any lives, experience points, spells, items, or pets.
The complete help file can be accessed online here.
The Guild CTF Tournament is an organised series of CTF matches between guilds, founded by aVANT in late 2006. At the time of writing, the first tournament is underway, and there are plans for future tournaments on a regular basis. Details of the tournament can be found on this website. For questions and suggestions regarding the tournament, please contact aVANT via MUDmail or tells.
• The CTF Club
The CTF Club is a player-run club on the MUD. Founded by Hirad, the club is used to discuss and organise CTF matches. Players who enjoy playing CTF are encouraged to join the club by contacting one of the recruiters.
• This Website
This website has been created to spread knowledge of the tournament, including its rules, scoring method, schedule and history. Such information tends to scroll off the frog board (requires Discworld MUD character login) quite quickly, and several people requested more information about the tournament.
The website was created by Kefka. For questions and suggestions regarding this website, please contact Kefka via MUDmail or tells.
